ORPHANAGE INTERVENTION
DURGA is dedicated to removing barriers to education and health for children. Orphaned and abandoned children and young adults are a group for whom this need is often the most acute.
We collaborated with our local charity partner (Jay Kay Women Welfare Society) to provide school supplies, food, clothing, and footwear to residents of the orphanages for girls and boys at RS Pura, Jammu and Kashmir. Educational supplies were distributed. They consisted of notebooks, pens, pencils, and erasers. Clothes including shirts, salwar kameezes, and pants were purchased and distributed. Footwear was also purchased and distributed to the children and young adults, so that they could have adequate protection for their feet, helping to prevent conditions such as Tetanus.
The Sub Divisional Magistrate for RS Pura Tehsil, Mr. Naresh Kumar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Additional funds and support were also provided for an orphanage in Basera Doda area of Jammu. Mr. Sharma, Executive Secretary of Jay Kay Women Welfare Society oversaw the distribution of these additional funds. |
