ART AND DANCE
Art and Dance are means of relieving stress and fostering creativity, while preserving interest in history and tradition. Yet many children in rural India do not have access to venues to express dance or art classes and supplies.
In 2019 we partnered with the Tapsya Kala Sangam, Art Foundation and Cultural Society Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir to organize a dance performance for children. Clothes, books and food were distributed at this venue as well amounting to a total cost of Rs. 41,925. Mr Ajay Sharma, SDPO, Akhnoor was the Chief Guest.

|
In 2017 an art competition was organized where children created art. We purchased art supplies and distributed them to the children to encourage their ongoing engagement in painting and drawing. The theme of the competition was world peace and the ills of drug addiction. Certificates of participation, mementos, prizes and snacks were given to all the children. The chief guest for the function was the Honorable Former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Tara Chand. This art competition was organized by DURGA in association with a reliable local NGO: Jay Kay Women's Welfare Society. The local media covered this event extensively. Rs. 55,000 was spent on this function.
